Lest we forget

Members of the Australian  and New Zealand Armed Force and British  Legion  joined together with representatives of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission,  Britain -Australia Society and  Royal Commonwealth Society at the Anzac Day Commemoration on Sunday 21st April  at St Johns Church in Sutton Veny in a special  service and wreath laying to remember the 143 Australians who died  at the end of the First World War. Personnel from the No 1 Australian Command either died of their injuries or from an outbreak of Spanish Flu at a Command Hospital  that was set up nearby.  This years’ service was also attended by  Sir Roger Carrick who was  High Commissioner to Australia between 1994 and 1997 and is now retired. Also in attendance was Sir General Sir Roger Wheeler GCB CBE, one time Chief of Staff for the British Army. Parishioners joined service personnel and veterans afterwards for tea in the church.
