Affirmations – Bath Abbey
Commonwealth students joined with members of the Bathand District Branch of the RCS and the morning congregation for the reading of the Commonwealth Affirmations at Bath Abbey on Sunday March 11th. Part of the Commonwealth Week celebrations, the affirmations were read out by Menina Nightingale from Kenya studying at Kingswood School, Ekundayo Samuel a Commonwealth scholar from Nigeria currently at the University of Bath and Charlotte Veale a UK student at Bath Spa University.
Commonwealth Observance – Westminster Abbey
Godfrey Hall Chair of the Bath and District Branch and their new University Co-ordinator Ekundayo Samuel from Nigeria (studying at The University of Bath) attended the Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey on Commonwealth Day. Over 2000 supporters of Commonwealth including school children, relevant organisations and government officials joined the Queen and other members of the Royal Family in a fantastic celebration of the Commonwealth through dance, song and drama. Also attendance was the Secretary-General Baroness Scotland and the Prime Minister.
