The West Country Branch of the Britain -Australia Society will be holding the Annual Admiral Phillip Commemoration Service and lunch this year at St Nicholas Church and Bailbrook House Hotel in Bathampton.

Admiral Phillip was the Founder of Modern Australia and led the remarkable journey of the first fleet from Portsmouth to Sydney, and then served as the first Governor of the Colony.

The commemorations will begin with church service at St Nicholas at 10.30 for 11am start, then move to the Bailbrook House Hotel for reception drinks hosted by the Mayor of Bath followed by the lunch and speeches. This year Carl Bridge, Professor Emeritus of Australian Studies at King’s College London, will be our guest speaker discussing

The achievements and impact of Admiral Phillip’s time in Australia, especially in this age of “wokeness” regarding the British Colonial era.
