Around fifty people attended a combined event on November 4th, together with Millfield School at the 44ADArtspace in Bath when the branch launched their Heroes of the Commonwealth Project. Twelve previously unrecognised Heroes from the Commonwealth will be studied by primary schools in the BA postcode area. Schools will be assisted by students from the University of Bath. The project will then culminate in collaborative piece of artwork which will be launched at a reception at the gallery and after a service on November 11th 2022 when students will give a short talk about their specific heroes.

The individuals selected either come from or have links with the Commonwealth and include people from India, New Zealand and Jamaica. It is hoped that members of their families will be able to attend the event next year alongside some of the High Commissioners from the various countries.

Andrew Rutherford a Deputy Lieutenant of Somerset representing our branch president Annie Maw, the Lord Lieutenant of Somerset said that the Lieutenancy is looking forward to following the progress of the project as it develops over the next 12 months.
