RCS members welcome the Commonwealth Baton to Bath  

RCS Bath and District members and friends together with the  Mayor of Bath Rob Appleyard  played  the steps of the Guildhall before the event

RCS members and friends joined together on July 22nd for the arrival of the Commonwealth baton at the Roman Baths in Bath. The baton left Buckingham Palace with the Queens message inside on October 7th, 2021 and since then has  visited  72 Commonwealth countries and territories.

It was carried through the city by a team of runners including Sharon Davies, Stephine Millward MBE and Stan Ford, a 97-year-old war veteran from Bath.

The baton will be handed over at the opening of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on July 28th. Athletes from all over Somerset, many who trained at the University of Bath, will be taking part along with competitors from all around the Commonwealth.    Annie Maw, Lord Lieutenant of Somerset and  president of the branch, along with the leader of BANES Council and the mayor of Bath Rob Appleyard, our patron welcomed  its arrival at the Roman Baths.
