The ongoing legacy of John Jellicoe Blair
by Mark Johnson his great nephew

John Jellicoe Blair, DFC (1919-2004) was a Jamaican Royal Air Force (RAF) pilot and navigator for RAF Bomber Command during the Second World War.
In 1945, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and was one of the Heroes featured in our Commonwealth Project last year.
Mark says of his great uncle, ‘He was a hero. The story of John Blair and others like him is important because what it says is that we can integrate. Even in 1941 we could overcome far more entrenched barriers then we face today. Everyone could take part and everyone was able to be part of a team when facing a crisis. This is a lesson for the youth today, the barriers are there but they can be overcome and people can adapt and society can change.’
The event starts at 12.30pm
The cost is £25.00 from members, £28 for non-members and £12.50 for students
